About: Founded in 1921 and finest university in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Its notable alumni include former Indian Prime Minister Sh. Lal Bahadur Shastri and famous freedom fighter Sh. Chandra Shekhar and former Karnataka chief minister Ramakrishan Hegde. It was formerly known as a Kashi Vidyapith but it was renamed to Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith in the year 1995. There are more than four hundred colleges affiliated to the university and one among the largest education universities in the state of UP. It has more than 10 faculties running in the university which includes education, law, humanities, social science, interdisciplinary studies, student welfare, law, commercial & management.
